About this event

TITLE: Writing and revising for publication: The science and the art

ABSTRACT:

Receiving a ‘revise and resubmit’ for a journal article can be both exciting (it wasn’t rejected!) and daunting (can I do everything the reviewers are asking?). This workshop examines some of the skills and techniques necessary to successfully revise an article for publication. Drawing on examples of revision letters from journal editors and reviewers from her own submissions, Prof Paula McDonald from the QUT Business School in Australia will discuss how to take an organised and systematic approach to revising journal articles; how to address specific revision points which are easy, difficult and (almost) impossible; and how to frame rebuttals where they are warranted. Finally, writing strategies from the reviewer’s perspective will be discussed.
